Where I serve

God has called me to serve college students at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. The young men and women on college campuses have a whole life ahead of them and I look forward everyday to impacting those lives and inviting people to live in a fulfilling relationship with Jesus. My own life has been radically transformed by Jesus Christ and His abounding mercy, its quite a story!

My Story

As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ. My life has been transformed by Jesus and I want nothing more than to bring this joy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel. The Catholic Church is such a gift to me, and the joy I have experienced in being a member of Christ's Church is worth sharing with others! In His ministry on earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us on our level, taking on our humanity, and spent most of His time investing deeply in a few. I'm excited to love other students that I'll encounter by showing them that they are worth investing in.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.

What’s New?

Fall outreach at Bowling Green

Hey everyone! It's your friendly neighborhood missionary Justin Leiner, writing to you from Bowling Green State University for my third year of missionary work! It's a busy time of year, but the past few weeks of the start of the school year have provided many great opportunities to encounter and invite students into the St. Thomas More community, especially through many of the bible studies we put on. One of the beautiful parts of this year's time of fall outreach is that many of our students disciples that my team works with have been a big part of inviting and evangelizing other students on the campus. It is wonderful to witness a fire in their hearts and see how they have been inspired to live missionary lives as well, and many of our disciples are also leading their own bible studies!

I want to share one glory story from my mission here at BGSU in the past few weeks. It is about Kahlil, who came to church last Sunday after his friend Erin (who is one our disciples) invited him! Erin introduced me to him and I invited him to join my bible study. Kahlil hadn't been to church for ten years and didn't grow up Catholic either, but that following Wednesday he came to my bible study, loved it, and right after came to night of worship at our Church which was an hour of adoration with praise and worship music. He is now very interested in learning more about our Catholic faith, has felt really loved by our community, and hopes to go on our Koinonia retreat in October! His story is just one of a lot of souls I see being drawn toward Jesus and His Church through the invitation of missionaries and our disciples working together to help people have a personal encounter with Jesus.

"There is no place for selfishness and no place for fear! ... Do not be afraid when love requires sacrifice" St. John Paul II

Thank you so much for your prayers and support of my mission! I have started leading two bible studies this semester, and am leading the men in them through a series on Theology of the Body. Please pray for the new men in my bible studies, especially the freshman, as they continue to encounter God in scripture and in prayer!

I hope these monthly emails will help you stay connected with my mission as a FOCUS missionary, I can't do it without you!
